Production guarantee
My solar production guarantee wasn't met
Updated October 16, 2026.
Many leases and PPAs promise a minimum amount of electricity each year. When the system comes up short, the agreement often says the company owes you something: a credit, a refund or a repair. Most owners never ask, and the company rarely offers.
Why it matters
- Down months count. If the system was off for part of the year, that shortfall may fall under the guarantee.
- Deadlines. Some agreements give you a limited time after the guarantee year to raise a claim.
- New servicers. When an account moves to a new company (SunPower and Sunnova accounts to SunStrong, for example), the guarantee usually comes with it, but nobody tells you.
The free production check shows what a system your size should make at your address. A big gap is the number that belongs on the record.
The letter that gets a written answer. I write it for you from your own agreement, bills and production numbers: a dated letter that puts the facts on the record and asks for a written answer by a date. If no written answer comes within 30 days, the follow-up letter is free.
$99 flat, ready in 3 business days. You read and approve it, then send it yourself.

“After the letter was sent, it was mere days that they got back to me with a much more positive email looking into all our issues causing the total system to be down.”
Tami B., SunStrong customer
What happened next: after her letter, SunStrong answered in writing within days, saying it would put billing and collections on hold, cancel auto-pay and set up a deferment while it looks into the system. See page 1 of her letter.
What this page isn't
It isn't legal advice. Agreements and state rules differ, and your own agreement wins over anything general here. I prepare documents at your direction; you review, sign and send them yourself.
