Sunnova
Is Sunnova still in business? Who runs your lease or PPA now
Updated October 19, 2026.
Not as the company you signed with. Sunnova, of Houston, filed Chapter 11 in the Southern District of Texas on June 8, 2025. It sold its customer contracts to Solaris Assets, an entity formed by GoodFinch Management; the court confirmed the plan on November 12, 2025, and it took effect two days later. SunStrong Management now handles billing, collections, monitoring and customer service for those accounts.
What changed, and what didn't
- Changed: who you deal with. The company on your contract isn't the one answering your emails.
- Changed: Sunnova's own production guarantees and customer warranties. The purchase agreement lists them as liabilities the buyer did not take on, and customers report the annual underproduction credits have stopped.
- Didn't change: the terms of your lease or PPA, including the rate, the escalator, the length and the buyout schedule. A new owner takes the contract as written.
- Didn't change: the equipment warranties. On a lease or PPA they belong to the system owner, and using them is the owner's job, not yours.
Why it matters
When the system is down or the bill doesn't match the agreement, the answer has to come from the new servicer, in writing. See what happens to a Sunnova lease or PPA, who is Solaris Assets LLC, billed while the system is down and the full Sunnova page.
The letter that gets a written answer. I write it for you from your own agreement, bills and production numbers: to the equipment maker if you own the system, or to the company that bills you if it's a lease or a PPA. It puts the facts on the record and asks for a written answer by a date. If no written answer comes within 30 days, the follow-up letter is free.
$99 flat, ready in 3 business days. You read and approve it, then send it yourself.
Have it written for you, $99 or email jon@solarstillworks.com
“After the letter was sent, it was mere days that they got back to me with a much more positive email looking into all our issues causing the total system to be down.”
Tami B., SunStrong customer
What happened next: after her letter, SunStrong answered in writing within days, saying it would put billing and collections on hold, cancel auto-pay and set up a deferment while it looks into the system. See page 1 of her letter.
What this page isn't
It isn't legal advice. Agreements and state rules differ, and your own agreement wins over anything general here. I prepare documents at your direction; you review, sign and send them yourself.
