SunPower
SunPower out of business: who services your panels now
Updated October 19, 2026.
SunPower filed Chapter 11 in August 2024, and on September 20, 2024 its phone line and support went dark. The company that bought the SunPower name did not take on responsibility for systems already installed. Roughly 600,000 homes were left with panels that work, a support line that doesn't, and a loan or lease that kept going.
Who services a SunPower system now
- Maxeon honors the panel warranty: 25 years on most panels, 40 on newer lines.
- Enphase honors the microinverter warranty on most Equinox systems: 25 years.
- Your lease or PPA is now serviced by SunStrong Management, which is responsible for the system under your agreement. Loans were financed separately and are serviced by other companies.
- Gone: SunPower's own "Complete Confidence" workmanship and production guarantee, now a bankruptcy claim, and free full-history monitoring, which now sits behind a subscription.
Why it stalls
Owners chase SunPower, then SunStrong, then Maxeon, and nobody owns the problem. The fix is one dated letter to the right one of them, with the facts and a date for a written answer. More: the full SunPower page, getting your monitoring back and what to do when your solar company stops answering.
The letter that gets a written answer. I write it for you from your own agreement, bills and production numbers: to the equipment maker if you own the system, or to the company that bills you if it's a lease or a PPA. It puts the facts on the record and asks for a written answer by a date. If no written answer comes within 30 days, the follow-up letter is free.
$99 flat, ready in 3 business days. You read and approve it, then send it yourself.
Have it written for you, $99 or email jon@solarstillworks.com
“After the letter was sent, it was mere days that they got back to me with a much more positive email looking into all our issues causing the total system to be down.”
Tami B., SunStrong customer
What happened next: after her letter, SunStrong answered in writing within days, saying it would put billing and collections on hold, cancel auto-pay and set up a deferment while it looks into the system. See page 1 of her letter.
What this page isn't
It isn't legal advice. Agreements and state rules differ, and your own agreement wins over anything general here. I prepare documents at your direction; you review, sign and send them yourself.
