Is it producing?
87%
Producing normally
Produced 30,150 kWh since 2022-05-05 against an expected 34,650 kWh for an 8.4 kW system near Bee Cave, TX. Expected figure from PVWatts v8 (National Laboratory of the Rockies) using typical-year weather, a fixed roof mount at 20° pitch facing 180°, 14% system losses, and 0.5% per year panel aging. Thresholds: 85% and above normal, 65 to 85% worth a look, below 65% likely a problem.
The system is doing its job. Save this document with your house papers, register the warranties below, and run the free check again in a year.
The system
| Installer | SunPower |
| Installer status | Filed Chapter 11 in August 2024; support ended September 20, 2024. The buyer of the SunPower name did not assume prior installs. The monitoring app was bought by SunStrong and runs as SunStrong Connect (basic free, history paid). Enphase's microinverter warranty is unaffected. Maxeon covers legacy SunPower panels only if they were registered with Maxeon by December 31, 2024; if that was missed, register anyway and ask Maxeon in writing. |
| System size | 8.4 kW AC rating used for the verdict. Array: 24 panels × 350 W = 8.4 kW DC |
| Install date | 2022-05-05 |
| Inverter | Enphase microinverters with IQ Gateway |
| Inverter / gateway serial | ZT2209XXXXXX |
| Panels | Maxeon, 24 panels at 350 W |
| Sample panel serial | A0123456789012 |
| Battery | None |
| Monitoring | Working, but registered under the installer's account |
Warranties that survive
Two different warranties were sold to you as one. The equipment warranties come from the manufacturers and do not care that the installer closed. The workmanship warranty came from the installer and died with it. Terms below are typical for equipment sold 2018 to 2025 and run from the original install date. Confirm the exact years against the warranty pages in your contract.
| Item | Typical term | Who honors it |
| IQ microinverters (one under each panel) | 25 years | Enphase |
| IQ Gateway / Envoy / IQ Combiner | 5 years | Enphase |
| Panels, product (defects) | 25 years, 40 on newer Maxeon lines | Maxeon |
| Panels, performance (output) | 25 to 40 years, typically guaranteeing 80 to 85% of rated output at year 25 | Maxeon |
| Workmanship, roof penetrations, production guarantee | Gone. Was the installer's, now a bankruptcy claim at best | SunPower |
Register them under your own name
Most installers never registered the homeowner. Registration is free and it is what makes a claim go smoothly years from now. Inverter: enphase.com, under your own Enphase account. Panels: the Maxeon website, warranty or product registration page, with a panel serial and the install date.
How a claim works
Enphase Customer Support with the gateway serial and your account email. Support can see microinverter faults remotely once the gateway is reporting. Enphase replaces the unit and pays a limited labor reimbursement to whichever licensed installer does the swap. For panels, contact Maxeon with a panel serial and photos; a licensed installer usually has to confirm the fault and do the swap, and that labor is normally not covered by the manufacturer.
Getting monitoring into your own hands
Enphase accounts belong to the homeowner. If the app is under the installer's email, ask Enphase Customer Support for a system ownership transfer with the gateway serial and proof of address. Legacy SunPower systems report through a SunPower PVS gateway. Three paths, cheapest first: the SunStrong Connect app (the old mySunPower app under its new owner; basic free, history paid), a local app such as Sunflower that reads the PVS over your home Wi-Fi with no account, or Enphase's replacement IQ Gateway with commissioning for $699 plus tax, after which the standard Enphase app works.

- Monitoring under your own account (see the monitoring section above)
Prepared by Solar Still Works from information supplied by the owner and from PVWatts v8 typical-year weather for the ZIP code. This document compares production to a model; it is not an inspection and cannot detect electrical faults or safety problems. A "normal" verdict does not mean the system is safe. Warranty terms are typical for the brands named and must be confirmed against the original warranty documents. Nothing here is legal, financial, or engineering advice. Not affiliated with any installer, lender, or manufacturer.
Home Sale Packet Sample, pages 3 to 4

Pages 1 and 2 are the Report Card above. The Packet continues:
How the system is held
| Arrangement | Solar loan, still being paid |
| Lender or servicer | Solar Servicing LLC (originally Mosaic) |
| Monthly payment | $178 |
| Term ends | 2042-05 |
| Electric utility | Pedernales Electric Cooperative |
| Net metering approval on file | Yes |
| Building permit closed | Yes |
What a buyer and title company need to know about the loan. The installer's bankruptcy did not touch this loan; it is held and serviced separately and must be dealt with at closing. Most solar loans are secured by a UCC-1 fixture filing recorded against the property, which will show up in the title search. There are three normal ways to close: pay the loan off from proceeds and obtain a UCC-3 termination from the servicer; have the buyer assume the loan, which needs the servicer's approval and takes weeks; or, less commonly, negotiate a price adjustment and keep paying. Request a payoff letter from the servicer as soon as the home is listed, not at closing.
What the buyer's inspector and lender will ask
- Is the system producing? Answered on page 1, with the method shown.
- Who made the panels and inverter, and what warranties transfer? Answered on page 2. Manufacturer warranties transfer with the house; some require a transfer form.
- Was the installation permitted and inspected? Yes, permit on file.
- Is there an interconnection agreement with the utility? Yes, on file.
- Roof condition at the mounts. The installer's roof-penetration warranty is gone, so a roofer's note on the mount flashings is worth the visit before listing.
- Who services it now? The repair company or network you have used, if any, and the manufacturer support lines above.
Closing checklist
- Payoff letter or assumption approval from the servicer
- UCC-3 termination recorded after payoff
- Monitoring account transferred to the buyer (Enphase ownership transfer)
- Manufacturer warranty transfer forms filed where required (Maxeon and some panel makers ask for one)
- Utility net metering account transferred to the buyer at the same time as the electric service
- This packet, the contract, the panel layout sheet, and the permit record handed to the buyer
